Rick Porcello had a very quality outing, one of his bests so far this year. He allowed just two runs against him, both coming from back-to-back solo homers.
Porcello had an immaculate fifth inning, meaning he tossed nine strikes to accumulate three strikeouts. The second inning of that kind all season. Previously done by Craig Kimbrel in the month of May.
Matt Barnes, Brandon Workman, and Joe Kelly each pitched a single inning without letting any runners reach base.
The offense tonight scored a total of eight runs, but in a highly subpar way. Five of those runs came in on errors, passed balls, and wild pitches. The others were scored on a run-scoring single by Mookie Betts and and a two-run single by Sandy Leon.
